May, 2004
Indiana Fiber Network, or IFN, was formed in March of 2002, to provide state-of-the-art technology services to its member/owners and other companies across the state of Indiana. Utilizing DWDM and SONET technologies deployed over 1,000 route miles of fiber optic cable across the state of Indiana, IFN will be able to provide Switched access transport, capacity leasing, special access, ISP backbone transport and services, SS7 "A" link consolidation, and video signal transport, along with other data, voice, and video services. So what makes IFN so unique? To start with, 19 independent local telephone companies from across the state are its owners. These companies have an average existence of over 100 years each, making the stability of IFN not in question. These companies will also be utilizing IFN's services to provide their own customers with communication services. These services account for the mass majority of the individual owner's revenue, so 99.99% network up time is critical to the owners of IFN, as well as to those other companies who choose to utilize their services. That is why the network is engineered to be in a fully protected ring configuration. Through the design of the network, and the utilization of IFN employees and the associated owners technicians, the IFN network's reliability will be second to none. IFN will have access to over 40 trained technicians located across the state to ensure rapid response time to any failure on the network, and will monitor this network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. IFN's headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. |
