Indiana Fiber Network, LLC (IFN) was formed in March of 2002 by a group of 12 independent telephone companies to explore the formation of a statewide fiber optic network to bring state of the art technology services and economies of scale to its owners. After utilizing one of their owner’s headquarters (RTC Communications) for the first couple of years, IFN’s first full time employee, President CEO Kelly Dyer opened up IFN’s first solo headquarters building in Indianapolis, Indiana in the spring of 2004 and began hiring additional staff. IFN put into service its first owner, Ligonier Telephone Company in May of 2004. During the period between formation and the first services implementation, IFN also added 7 additional Telco members, increasing their ownership to 19. |
In April of 2007 IFN purchased a 24,000 square foot building located at 5520 W. 76th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana to serve as their headquarters building and main location of their communications equipment. Today, utilizing DWDM and SONET technologies deployed over 1,900 route miles of fiber optic cable across the state of Indiana, IFN has 20 members and serves over 100 additional customers with several different services including switched access transport, capacity leasing, special access, Internet backbone transport and services, SS7 "A" link consolidation, data equipment co-location and video signal transport, along with other data, voice, and video services. |
